Optopoculus Max is a virtual reality music performance app that was created during the Spring 2017 Seattle VR Hackathon. Our intent was to create a music-making experience with enough musical constraints and also possibilities to allow someone who isn’t a musician to play some music.
It was amazing to see many people put on the Vive VR headset, play along with the rest of the piece of music in our app, and for them to then receive applause from bystanders for their efforts.
We built our app using Max MSP Jitter, a live coding development environment often used for the creation of audio and video installations and performances.
